Art Discovery experiences are offered by ARTerian volunteers as a way for Black Rock City participants to experience the highlights of the art on playa. Initially geared specifically toward participants with mobility challenges, we now offer many different options for exploring the incredible art in BRC.
Please stop by the ARTery at 6:30 and Esplanade or read through the details below if you are interested in participating. The ARTery’s hours are 9:00am to 6:00pm every day and we would love to see you!

Art Discovery on Mutant Vehicles for Mobility-Challenged Participants
For people with mobility challenges and friends, trained Burning Man Art Department volunteers offer guided Art Discovery tours aboard mutant vehicles, weather permitting. Morning tours run Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to noon, each exploring one half of the playa. Tours depart from Mobility Camp at 6:30 and A.
Evening tours run Wednesday and Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. to explore the illuminated playa and highlight artworks with spectacular lighting and flame effects.
While tours are open to everyone, seating priority is given to people with mobility challenges, including:
- People with health issues that affect their ability to get around
- Pregnant people
- Parents or caregivers with small children
- Seniors
Participants are encouraged to bring companions for assistance. Support will also be available when boarding the mutant vehicles.

Art Discovery with American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreters on Mutant Vehicles

Tours run Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Tours depart from Mobility Camp at 6:30 and A. No sign-up is necessary.
